Night essay

The memoir 'Night' by Elie Wiesel is a record of his time spent in the Holocaust. Some techniques he used telling his story were repetition, contrast and first person narration. The Holocaust was one of the worst genocides in history as regards to mankind. Wiesel talks a lot about how it was inside of the concentration camps. His writing had a big emotional impact on making me feel distressed, unhappy and down hearted.

The train stopped at Birkenau, at that moment the air was infused with the dead remains of humans. As quoted from Elie's book, "Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into the smoke under a silent sky." He uses the technique of repetition. He repeats the phrase, "Never shall I forget," seven times, in a way to represent God being with him. This exact moment with this quote made me feel deeply saddened and caused knots in my stomach. The reason why the young children and women were sent to the gas chambers was because Adolf Hitler never wanted another generation of Jewish people.

When there was a hanging in the camp, they were forced to look at the fragile lifeless young boy hanging between life and death, “The two men were no longer alive….But the third rope was still moving: the child, too light, was still breathing…” The technique used here is the contrast between the simple sentence which states that the men are dead, compared to the complex sentence which shows the fact that the child was still alive and not heavy enough to have a quick death. I felt shocked because the young boy slowly and painfully died and people had to watch.

During the death march, they were running in the cold snow while getting screamed at, "Faster you filthy pigs!" coming from one of the guards. Near Elie was a young boy from Poland whose name was Zalman. Elie says to his friend who wants to stop and go to the toilet, "Wait a little, Zalman. Soon, we will all come to a halt. We cannot run like this to the end of the world." Elie uses the first person plural pronoun 'we'. This technique of first person narration shows he is trying to encourage his friend to carry on. I felt hopeful because it gave me a feeling of faith, to know what happens next.

In his memoir Elie Wiesel used techniques such as repetition, contrast, first person narration to show what he has been through during the Holocaust. It had a deeply saddening emotional impact on me.  From reading this memoir I learnt there was more to the Holocaust instead of just the gas chambers. In my opinion, this issue will need to be brought up towards the future generation because it is important to learn about this history.

Brain master

Games:

For the past few weeks we have been playing with our games that we all made, while we have been playing with our games at the end of each game we played we will add a review the review would include questions about the game like did you enjoy the game?was it fun? were the rules clear?any suggestions? or modifications?

Feedback from other groups:

the groups who did play our gamed didn't say we need to change anything and it was fun, they also said we don't need to improve anything.

My Opinion:

I think our game was pretty fun and make more obstacles,at times it is frustrating when you're about to win but you have to go back to the start.

Curious Cove

My favourite part of camp was going to Motoara and Ships cove, first we left are camp site (curious cove) we traveled on a little boat from the camp, As we slowly traveled down and around the islands of the south islands, once we arrived at are first destination ships cove we had a fifth teen minute walk up the quiet trail so we could see the birds and native animals. I saw  a kiwi that was sleeping a curled up in a comfy position. once we left we got to Motoara It only took about 20 minutes. When we got there I had some hotdogs and cookies while the other people went for a walk up the trail to see the waterfall, then had a play around for an hour. then we left it was fun.

My least favourite part was the weather cause it was raining most of the time.

Cool sceneries          Camp!

Unique birds              Oddly strange cool animals

Really exciting            Very extravagant

Interesting weather     Exciting

Outgoing activities

Unirresistible food.

Some good memories

Brain master

last week on Monday 16 November are teacher had organised us to create a game for us to play,

The Game we created was could Brain master, basically its a game were you have to get from the start to the end their are some maths questions and fun dares if you land on it.

The hardest bit would be landing on the start again. One rule is to see who get the lowest number with rolling both the dice. the equipment is-dice and counters with the board The board already has instructions.

          The game has a name?

Instructions were simple and easy to follow?

Rules were clear for your group to understand?

The equipment was listed for the game?

It was Fun to play?

2-6 players play this game?

Game presentation is 100%?

Is this an original game?

I think some improvements are more challenges. The game turned out very fun and challenge

Managing Self - Accountability and Responsibility WEEK 7 TERM 3 2020

One thing I would want to change on this google form is to add The question "Who distracts you during class and why". Many people are loud in class and do distract me, Otherwise the other questions are good and don't necessary need to change. This is the only question I want added on or replaced as.

what I have learnt this week,

this week I have learnt about prepositions-Prepositions give energy to your writing. They show position or movement e.g under, by, in, out.

Prepositions are good for needing a good start to your story and can really help hook the reader in.

I think that prepositions can really help me. If I cant think of anything to write about.
